help Sophie Wang began playing the violin at the age of four in her native China where she has achieved considerable success and acclaim. Sophie's musical talent was recognised and encouraged by her family and teachers from an early age. She studied at Nanjing Music School and at Shanghai Conservatoire of Music where she graduated with a first class BA degree in Music Performance in 2002. In September 2002 she came to England to continue her study and was awarded a distiction in a MA Music Performance degree.

Her experience as a concert soloist has included an eight months’ engagement with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra in 2002. She has also played with many orchestras such as the Eastern Symphony Orchestra, the Chinese Film Orchestra and the Wycombe Sinfonia.

As a recitalist, Sophie performs regularly with the Boreas Trio and pianist Jonathan Fisher. Her recent programmes include works from Wieniawski, Beethoven, Bach.
